To Ah-Ma, Happy Mommy's Day 2010
I know that Mother's day has passed few days ago and I have yet to share about how I spent my mom's day.
Speaking of mother's day. The only I remember about Mother's Day every year is actually my Grandmother.
I stayed with this wonderful woman when I was in high school.
I can never forget how she really took care of me, during my stay with her. these are the list on what she did to me (at least)
Top 10 reasons why My Grandmother is one of my dearest in my heart just like how any other people I know their mother is dearest to them.
1) She always prepare hearty meals everyday, without complaints. She cooked all my favorite dishes like; Cod fish, she knew I love it and my other favorites (just can't forget about the cod fish)
2) She always buy all my favorite food from my favorite stalls every weekends after she did her early morning exercises.
3) I was scolded by her when I did housework for her.
4) She would smile when I hand-washed my own clothes, knowing I am not an expert handling the old wooden washing board and she would always helped me to wash... Together.
5) She would bring me to see doctor whenever I am sick.
6) She made me a glass of milk, when I was not allowed to eat my meals as a punishment given to me by my mom.
7) Knowing I would be lonely to travel alone back to Indonesia, she volunteered to accompany me and she did.
8) She... despite of our language barrier, she always want to communicate with me and have a close bonding with me; asking me how was my day in school, if I have eaten and if I was tired.
9) She... (just 3 days ago during mom's day), the 1st thing she did, was to look for me and checked me out if I was sitting on the dining table to eat.
10) She always speaks to me just like any other gentle moms did to their kids. She did nagged just like any other mother's nagging but end up with great laughter. We end up with laughing at each other after she nagged though (WHICH MOMS DON'T NAG by the way). (There is a thin line between nagging and cursing as well as speaking a lot of negativity-at times I feel like telling these people to stay aside and stop spreading their pity-partying mood)
Being with her, I always feel safe and secure.
She always makes me feel that I have a reason to live in this world. Other than my father, she is the next person I want to make her feel proud of me and what I have achieved in my life.
I still remember that when I first stayed with her, I am happy and no doubt I am always positive towards life, which I never have that when I was a child. I grew up in an extremely negative and depressing environment, which my siblings didn't even know what I SAW and what I went through. I always think I am stupid, I am useless, pig head and the worst of the worsts in school and the only place I can feel proud of myself was in ballet and piano classes.
I remembered when I passed my 'O' Level, especially Chinese and when I received my Diploma Scroll, my daddy is proud of me. And I know deep down in my heart, My Ah-Ma was extremely happy too, knowing her granddaughter passed her exams (especially for my 'O' Level. Hell, God knows what happened during that period of time - needless to say, the events are something I can never ever forget) and moving on to the next phase in her life.
Well, there are a lot more to share about my grandmother. She is a fantastic woman. I can never imagine what will I do if I don't have her. Sometimes, the only thing I feel bad is often, I took her for granted when I was younger and now that I have been working hard, I didn't have much time to visit her as often as I could. I will try, I promise though.
Whatever it is, Ah-Ma... you are the best. You will never understand what I am writing here but I just want to say that I love you. You are the greatest and perfect grandmother to all of us, grandchildren and great Mother to all of your children. On the behalf of them, I am wishing you "Happy Mother's Day"
Love,
Your Grand-daughter
